According to a report by the World Steel Association, global crude steel production in 63 countries reached 165.1 million tonnes (Mt) in March 2023, an increase of 1.7% compared to March 2022.

- Africa: 1.4 million tonnes, an increase of 8.4% year-on-year.
- Asia and Oceania: 124.8 million tonnes, up 4.1% year on year.
- European Union (27 countries): 11.9 million tonnes, a decrease of 5.6% over the previous year.
- Other European countries: 3.5 million tonnes, a decrease of 14.1% year-on-year.
- Middle East: 3.1 million tonnes, a decrease of 17.5% compared to last year.
- North America: 9.3 million tonnes, a decrease of 2.6% compared to last year.
- Russia and other CIS countries + Ukraine: 7.6 million tonnes, an increase of 3.0% over last year.
- South America: 3.5 million tonnes, a decrease of 7.6%.
The Crude Steel Production of the Top Ten Steel-Producing Countries Is as Follows:
- China: 95.7 million tonnes, an increase of 6.9% over the previous year.
- India: 114.0 million tonnes, an increase of 2.7% over the previous year.
- Japan: 75.0 million tonnes, a decrease of 5.9% year on year.
- United States: 67.0 million tonnes, a decrease of 2.1%.
- Russia: 66.0 million tonnes, an increase of 0.4% on the previous year.
- South Korea: 58.0 million tonnes, an increase of 1.9% over the previous year.
- Germany: 33.0 million tonnes, a decrease of 0.5% on the previous year.
- Brazil: 27.0 million tonnes, a decrease of 8.7% on the previous year.
- Turkey: 27.0 million tonnes, a decrease of 18.6%.
- Italy: 22.0 million tonnes, an increase of 2.7% over the previous year.
